Milence opens charging plaza with megawatt charger in Zwolle

Milence has opened a new charging plaza in Zwolle. It is the company’s second plaza in the Netherlands.
In total, there are nine points for trucks to charge, including one megawatt charger. It is planned to expand the number of charging points later.
The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) is the latest standard for high-power charging, developed to support the rapid expansion of electric trucks.
MCS can supply up to 3.75 megawatts (3,750 kilowatts) of direct current. Trucks can thus be fully charged in as little as half an hour. Milence’s goal is to eventually set up 284 such MCS charging points in Europe, spread across 71 locations in 10 EU countries.
1,700 charging points
Founded in July 2022 as a joint venture between Daimler Truck, the Traton Group and the Volvo Group, Milence operates as an independent, standalone company with initial funding of €500 million. By 2027, the company aims to operate 1,700 charging points across the EU. Currently, the company has installed almost 10 per cent of them, according to a survey on Milence’s website.
