New grant from ministry helps businesses with flexible electricity use

Companies with a contracted transmission capacity of at least 100 kW can claim the Flexible Electricity Consumption (Flex-e) subsidy from 1 April. The scheme, which runs until 15 October, aims to support companies in optimising their energy consumption to better deal with grid congestion. This reports the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO).
The subsidy scheme, commissioned by the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth, offers financial support for three specific components. Companies can apply for a subsidy for a flexibility scan, a feasibility study or the implementation of measures to use electricity more flexibly.
Grid congestion
With the flexibility scan, companies can map out what their current energy consumption looks like and what opportunities there are to make it more flexible. Next, a feasibility study can provide insight into the financial and technical feasibility of possible measures. Finally, companies that invest in modifications to optimise their electricity consumption can recover part of these investments through the subsidy.
The subsidy comes at a time when grid congestion is an increasing challenge for companies. The demand for electricity is increasing while the capacity of the power grid is limited. Companies wishing to avail of the subsidy can apply from 1 April.
