TotalEnergies report: energy transition accelerates, but fossil remains crucial until 2040

The global energy transition is uneven and slower than hoped. That is according to TotalEnergies’ latest Energy Outlook 2025. The energy company expects global demand for oil to continue to rise until 2040 – only after that will a gradual decline follow.

The top executive of E.ON, the German parent company of Essent and Energiedirect.nl, believes Germany should slow down the pace of wind and solar energy expansion.
