New WashTec rollover for Autobedrijf Sanders: ‘After nineteen years, it was time for renewal’
Autobedrijf Sanders of Musselkanaal, Groningen, recently upgraded its washing installation. The old WashTec rollover, which had served faithfully for almost 20 years, was replaced by the new WashTec SoftCare SE.
Autobedrijf Sanders started in 1973 and moved to its current location in Musselkanaal in 1980. They did this not only as a car company, where they dealt with the sale and maintenance of new and used cars, but also with a petrol station and a washing facility. “My parents were quite pioneering at the time,” says current owner Jeffrey Sanders, who now forms the second generation within the family business. “In 1980, the combination of car company, petrol station and car wash was still fairly new, but my parents recognised its added value early on.” Currently, the company still combines various activities under one roof.
Renewal after nineteen years
The old installation, a WashTec rollover that had been in service for almost nineteen years, was in need of major maintenance. “We hiccupped about it for a while,” Sanders says. “But we needed to invest heavily in maintenance, so we made the decision: we would rather buy a new machine that would last for years.”
The choice again fell on WashTec, this time on the SoftCare SE – a model that has now been on the market for just over a year. “Before this, we had the SoftCare PRO and now the SE. Basically they do the same thing, but we really notice now that the new one is a lot better again. It washes better and dries nicer. You can see it’s all just a bit more modern.”
Chemistry from Auwa
Among other things, the new rollover has an improved 80-bar high-pressure system and a polishing programme. For the chemistry, Sanders also relies on WashTec, with products from Auwa. “We were already working with their chemistry and we like it very much,” he says. “It is nice that everything is with one party. They know exactly which agents work best with these brushes. That gives peace of mind and certainty.” Auwa’s full range of chemicals is used here, including the latest polish, MagicCare. Chem-in-a-Box packages have also been supplied here, as they are easy to handle when refilling and ensure less waste volume.
Contact with WashTec is also pleasant, Sanders points out. “The WashTec representatives, for both the chemicals and the installation, regularly drop by for a cup of coffee and a chat to see how things are going. That personal contact is important to me. It keeps you informed and you know that everything keeps running smoothly.”
Approach to laundry hall
Around the installation of the rollover, the laundry hall was also tackled. “The hall is now completely up-to-date. We used to have swimming pool tiles in there, but you can imagine that after nineteen years, they needed replacing too. We have now replaced those with beautiful wall panels. When you do a project like this, it’s better to get it right the first time.”
The new installation has now been running for three weeks and the reactions have been purely positive, according to Sanders. “It is running really well. With us, customers can choose to do the pre-wash themselves during the week, or have staff wash the car at the weekend, while they have a cup of coffee here. That mix has been working well for years and with the new rollover, we can also move forward for years to come.”
