‘Car wash employee steals 10 thousand euros: month suspended jail sentence’

A former employee of BOB Autowas was sentenced by the court on Monday, August 4, for stealing money from the carwash. The man was given 120 hours of community service and a one-month suspended prison sentence. He must also repay the stolen amount.
The case came to light after the owner of the carwash, suspecting irregularities, had security cameras installed. On this, the suspect was caught red-handed, reports the AD. Investigations revealed that he had been taking away sums of money over an extended period of time. According to the prosecution, the amount involved was around 10,000 euros. The court ruled that the accused must repay this full amount to the carwash.
Besides community service and a one-month suspended prison sentence, the judge also imposed special conditions. The man will be given an obligation to report, must be accompanied by debt counselling and cooperate in outpatient treatment for his gambling addiction. The hearing showed that the theft stemmed from a gambling problem. Therefore, the court also imposed a ban on gambling participation and the man must register in the Central Register of Exclusion from Gaming (Cruks).
BOB Autowas said it did not wish to comment on the case.
