Cheaper fuel at Vissers Energy on Prinsjesdag: ‘We need to step up the pressure on The Hague’

Under the slogan ‘If Jetten won’t do it, we will’, Vissers Energy is cutting prices at the pump at eleven petrol stations on Prinsjesdag. The Horst-based company says it is doing this to offer customers ‘a temporarily attractive rate’, but even more so to ‘draw attention to the structure of fuel prices’.
On the upcoming Prinsjesdag, Tuesday 15 September, Prime Minister Jetten’s cabinet will present its plans for the coming year. This is a crucial moment, particularly when it comes to consumers’ purchasing power and the financial burden they face. Family-run business Vissers Energy has its reservations about this and is therefore presenting its own plan under the slogan ‘If Jetten won’t do it, we will’. On Prinsjesdag, consumers will be able to fill up with Euro95 at eleven of the company’s petrol stations at a discount of 50 eurocents per litre. On that day, diesel will be 40 euro cents per litre cheaper, as will LPG.
Attractive rate
With this price reduction, Vissers Energy says it aims to offer customers a ‘competitive price’ on a temporary basis. At the same time, the company hopes this will draw attention to the structure of fuel prices. “The price at the pump is largely determined by excise duties and VAT. Yet, when fuel prices are high, the focus often falls first on the petrol station operator, even though our influence over a large part of that price is very limited,” reads a statement posted online.
That is why, according to the petrol station operator, they are doing what they can: offering motorists a substantial temporary discount. “For our customers and as a signal to The Hague,” says Vissers Energy, concluding the post with “Pump prices down, pressure on The Hague up”.
The eleven petrol stations in the Vissers Energy network where the promotional prices apply on Prinsjesdag are the company’s stations in Beek en Donk, Gassel, Kerkrade, Leunen, Siebengewalt and Weurt; the Vissers Express sites in Neer and Sevenum; the site at De EnergyHub in Venlo; and the Keulse Barrière Noord and Zuid petrol stations.
