Oil companies have spent millions on operating these motorway service stations

During the 24th lease rights auction organised this week by the Central Government Property Agency, the operation of four of the seven motorway sites changed hands. The highest bid came from Shell, which offered just over 13.3 million euros to continue operating ‘Portland’ on the A15 near Rhoon for the next fifteen years. However high this sum may be, it pales into insignificance compared with the millions that were on the table during previous lease rights auctions.
