Results of the 2026 lease rights auction: these motorway service stations are changing hands

The annual lease rights auction organised by the Central Government Property Agency has now taken place. On Wednesday 9 September, the lease rights for seven motorway service stations were auctioned off amid great interest. The operation of no fewer than four of the seven motorway service stations is changing hands. Shell dug deepest into its pockets with a bid worth millions to retain the ‘Portland’ site.

On the A12 motorway near Waarder in South Holland, work is in full swing on the construction of a so-called mobility hub featuring catering facilities, charging points, meeting spaces and a hotel.
