Peut filling stations Abswoude in Noordwijk equipped with deposit bulk machine: ‘Making an impact’

Peut Abswoude’s two filling stations in Noordwijk are fully committed to the collection of deposit bottles and cans. Following the realisation last December of a deposit bulk machine at the Peut on the ‘s-Gravendijckseweg, the entrepreneurial family has now also installed a similar machine at the Peut filling station on the Schiestraat in Noordwijk.
“Today we showed how to make an impact in society,” said Annemarie Wijk-Van Abswoude at the commissioning of a deposit bulk machine placed at a site on Nieuwe Offemweg in Noordwijk, a few steps behind the Peut filling station. “For our family, this is a historic location where we have created a beautiful Abswoude square within a few weeks and where we again make many people happy on a daily basis.” The businesswoman is referring to another service also recently realised at the location behind the Peut petrol station: a parcel wall where postal packages can be delivered and collected.
Extra service
More and more filling stations in the Netherlands are installing a deposit bulk machine on their premises. With this, they not only want to offer extra service, it should also generate more visitors and revenue. Visitors who deposit their cans and bottles in the vending machine might also fill up immediately or take something from the manned shop, the reasoning goes. A bulk vending machine offers the possibility of depositing more than a hundred refundable bottles and cans at once. After the deposit bottles and cans are handed in, the visitor chooses to pay out with Tikkie or donate to charity. The financial processing is done via Statiegeld Nederland and does not involve any extra administration for the entrepreneur.
Independent
Peut started in November 2014 as a filling station formula for independent pump owners. As a cooperative De Vrije Pomp, Peut entrepreneurs buy fuel jointly. Unlike large oil companies, Peut allows room for the appearance and decisions of the local entrepreneur. The formula claims to offer excellent purchasing conditions, allowing member pump owners to buy fuel, oil and windscreen washer fluid cheaper.
The formula uses the Tank & Schenk savings system. For every litre refuelled, customers can donate one eurocent to a local charity of their choice. At the end of April 2026, it was announced that the loyalty programme has donated a total of one million euros to charities since its launch in 2014.
There are currently 14 Peut filling stations in the Netherlands.
