Q8 electric and Kenter Groendus to offer consumers unused energy capacity

Q8 electric and Kenter Groendus are entering into a partnership. Both companies intend to jointly offer unused energy capacity at companies to consumers.
According to Q8, the cooperation will enable consumers to charge at ‘strategic locations’ of Q8 electric. According to Q8, the cooperation with Kenter Groendus fits ‘perfectly’ with the company’s vision to expand the Q8 electric charging network in the Netherlands. Q8 electric not only wants to realise more charging points, but especially better, strategically placed locations which, according to the company, contribute to a reliable and accessible network. Kenter Groendus will provide the infrastructure, energy storage and data insights to show whether companies are making full use of their contracted maximum energy capacity.
Hidden potential
According to both companies, residual capacity is structurally available in many cases. This is power that is reserved but not used. “It is precisely this hidden potential that is the key to this cooperation,” says Steven Clauwaert, Head of Fast Charging at Q8. “By strategically deploying unused capacity for charging stations in the immediate vicinity of companies, Q8 electric and Kenter Groendus are creating additional charging capacity without waiting for costly and time-consuming grid reinforcement.”
According to Clauwaert, this makes optimal use of the existing infrastructure and accelerates the expansion of the national charging network. “This ensures that our customers will soon be able to charge their vehicles in even more places.”
More charging points
According to both companies, the approach offers a concrete answer to the growing congestion problem in the Netherlands. The cooperation should yield more charging points in strategic locations, faster realisation and a network ready for the rapidly rising demand for electric driving.
The first Q8 electric charging stations will be installed in the Netherlands in early 2027.
