Avia Weghorst and Kempower collaboration delivers 300 fast charging points in five years

The cooperation between energy company Avia Weghorst and Finnish charging station manufacturer Kempower, which started in 2021, has delivered over 300 DC fast charging points in the Netherlands to date.
The two companies announced this on Tuesday. Avia Weghorst and Kempower entered into a partnership five years ago to support the growth of Dutch e-mobility. Since then, more than 130 projects have been jointly realised; according to Kempower, accounting for 21.4 MW of charging capacity. In 2021, Avia Weghorst in Enschede was the first in the Netherlands to install a decentralised charging system from the Finnish charging station manufacturer. This was followed three years later by the opening in Enter of the largest public charging station with 400 kW chargers, aimed at fast charging of electric trucks.
In Zwolle, near roadside restaurant De Lichtmis along motorway A28, the two companies were the first in the Netherlands to commission the More fast-charging system in early 2026. This allows more connections than normal to be added to a power unit. The system also delivers up to 1.2 megawatts, instead of 600 kW, according to Kempower.
Avia Weghorst’s new flagship facility, which is being realised at Almelo XL Park and will open this spring, will have a total charging capacity of 1.8 MW. This is partly for passenger cars, but mainly for four 560 kW fast chargers for e-trucks.
