Those who like to clean their car themselves don’t have to look far for Stipt’s car cosmetics. The products of Stipt Polish Point from Best in Brabant are prominent on the shelves of petrol stations, in Gamma and Karwei DIY stores, in supermarkets and at a growing number of other sales outlets; currently at more than a thousand outlets. Rick van Stippent, director and founder of Stipt Polish Point, has seen the demand for his car cosmetics increase significantly in recent years. The quality of the products, the presentation of the range and the slick videos online are driving growing demand. But mainly because the products deliver a better end result than the buyer expected beforehand, Stipt car cosmetics have quickly become the market leader in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Decent brand
Van Stippent is the owner of, as he himself calls it, a “decent car polish brand”. What that is? “That the products meet beyond your expectations. And that they are suitable for everyone. There are more suppliers of car wax products in this industry, but none comes close to our quality and has as complete a range as Stipt. This did not happen overnight; I have worked for more than 15 years to get products so good that the car can be perfectly cleaned from bottom to top and from outside and inside. We have put all our knowledge and experience into it so that an individual can responsibly and safely bring the car to a high standard themselves.”
Founded in 2014
Van Stippent started doing business at the age of 11. “I am a car fanatic. Being crazy about cars, I started polishing them as a young boy. About ten a week, for four euros per car. Gradually I got more and more into that polishing and it became more serious. I noticed that some products did not do what they promised. In my eyes, the quality could be a lot better. That’s where I saw a gap in the market. When I was 16 or 17, I started Ricks Car Cleaning. On 1 April 2014, that became Stipt Polish Point. Then I also started photographing the cars and put those images on social media. That not only got me a lot of likes, but also customers from home and abroad. At some point, I thought: wouldn’t it be nice if I started explaining things? That is how my YouTube channel was born. By now, I achieve ten million views a month with several productions.”
Nothing is impossible
With all the knowledge and experience in the field of car cosmetics, Van Stippent has been able to develop a product range with specific high-quality products for every part of the car. “For the exterior as well as the interior,” he stresses. “Shampoos and cleaners, of course, but also polish and polishing paste, wheel cleaner, car perfume, upholstery cleaner, dashboard cleaner, leather cleaner and plastic cleaner. But also tools like cloths, brushes, machines like pressure washers and foam guns. Everything you can think of for self-cleaning the inside and outside of the car. At Stipt, nothing is impossible.”
Growth opportunities
Although Stipt’s car cosmetics products are widely available in the Netherlands, including at 300 petrol stations, the company would like to significantly increase the number of outlets. And those opportunities are plentiful, according to Van Stippent. “Not only do many people wash their vehicles themselves by hand at the house, they also increasingly go to a washbox to do it there. In our country, the number of wash boxes is shooting up like mushrooms, so there is a huge market there. We are also looking at Germany, a market with great sales opportunities. Not just for consumers, by the way, but mainly business-to-business.”
Secret
According to Van Stippent, what is the secret of success? “I don’t show products, I show what they can do,” he says. “Let consumers and businesses work with them and then they find out how good they are. That appeals. As I said, I have worked on the operation, quality and presentation of Stipt products for 15 years and that is something no one else can just imitate. They are all value-added products that do what they are supposed to do. In addition, we have a great YouTube channel where each product shows what it can be used for, what it does and where you can buy it. It couldn’t be easier.”
