Fastned will source power for fast chargers from solar panels on Prologis buildings

Solar panels on the roofs of logistics centres of firm Prologis in Belgium will supply electricity directly to Fastned’s fast-charging network. The Dutch fast-charging company and Prologis have signed a 15-year contract for this purpose.
The two companies announced this on Tuesday. Fastned will purchase 90 per cent of the electricity generated by solar panels on the roofs of three Prologis logistics sites located in the Belgian towns of Boom and Tongeren. According to the two companies, the agreement demonstrates that solar panels can power individual buildings while also contributing directly to electric mobility infrastructure on a large scale.
500 million
During the 15-year contract, Fastned expects the renewable electricity supplied to enable the equivalent of around 500 million sustainable kilometres. This roughly corresponds to several million fastned sessions within the Belgian network.
“The cooperation with Prologis allows us to secure long-term renewable energy with price stability, while accelerating the rollout of fast-charging infrastructure in Belgium,” said Roland van der Put of Fastned.
The Dutch fast-charging company expects to have the installations operational in the second half of 2026.
