Tamoil petrol station Wijhe closes Dulicious shop after it is vandalised again: ‘Can’t afford it’
The entrepreneurs Marcel and Lizette Dul of the Tamoil Express petrol station on the Wengelerafweg in Wijhe, Overijssel, are closing their unmanned Dulicious-shop after it was deliberately smashed up for the second time in a short time.
It happened for the first time in October: a masked young man destroys several vending machines with snacks, ice cream, coffee and car supplies set up in the unmanned Dulicious-shop near the Tamoil filling station in Wijhe. At the end of November, it was the second time it happened: again, in front of a security camera, a young man smashed the vending machines and coffee machine in the shop with a hammer. For entrepreneurs Marcel and Lizette Dul, it was enough: they closed the shop.
“We are sad and angry and also a bit afraid to continue with it,” Lizette Dul tells various media, including De Stentor. “It is not financially feasible to keep our little shop open. We don’t want to go through this again. We cannot afford to keep investing in this. The perpetrators have not been caught yet, so if we reopen the shop, there is a chance that the place will be smashed up again afterwards. We want peace now and see what can be fixed. Perhaps in a while, when things are quieter, we will reopen.”
Tamoil has nearly 240 refuelling locations in the Netherlands. The company is part of the Oilinvest Group, an oil group with refuelling and loading stations in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and the Netherlands.
