Shell and Van Kessel enter strategic partnership: ‘Accelerating sustainable growth together’
Shell Netherlands and Van Kessel are entering into a strategic partnership. The companies say the partnership will strengthen services to business customers in the Netherlands and accelerate the energy transition to net zero emissions.
The partnership is based on an integrated approach, bringing together expertise, infrastructure and customer solutions. Based on this shared vision, Shell and Van Kessel will cooperate in three concrete areas: fuel supplies to businesses, fuel and charge card solutions and expansion and optimisation of the network of refuelling and charging locations.
In particular, the two companies see the business use of fuels with lower CO2 and methane emissions as a growth market. This mainly involves (bio-)LNG and renewable diesel (HVO100 / Shell Renewable Diesel). Further electrification, whether or not supplemented by hydrogen as an energy carrier, is also an important key point in the cooperation plans.
Expertise
“With the cooperation, we will gain access to Shell’s global expertise, integrated energy solutions, trade insights, technical know-how and innovation capabilities,” said Joan van Kessel, managing director of Van Kessel. “This will allow us to expand our offering and accelerate our sustainable growth.”
According to Sandra Geilings, head of corporate mobility in the Benelux and France at Shell, Van Kessel brings to the partnership “in-depth knowledge” of the Dutch market. “The company has strong customer relationships and a practical approach. Together we can mean more to the Dutch business market in mobility, energy supplies and fleet. And together we can respond flexibly to the challenges we and our clients face on the road to net zero emissions.”
Van Kessel has been active for more than 104 years in the sale and distribution of (renewable) fuels, lubricants and energy to companies, service stations and wholesale customers. The company operates more than 40 filling stations in the Netherlands, has 26 fuel trucks on the road and operates sustainable energy hubs with fossil-free fuels, electric vehicle charging stations and hydrogen filling stations under the name Greenpoint.
