Fastned opens first charging station in Venlo with separate lane for electric trucks
Fastned wants to offer charging facilities not only for electric cars, but also for trucks. That is why the Dutch fast-charging company opened the first charging station with a separate lane for electric trucks on Friday at service area ‘Venlose Heide’ on the A67 motorway.
Venlose Heide on the A67 motorway just north of central Limburg’s Venlo is a popular stopping point for truck drivers as it is equipped with an immense guarded car park. At the location on the A67, the first stop in the Netherlands for traffic from Germany, Fastned has now opened a fast-charging station where both electric cars and trucks can fast-charge. For e-trucks, a dedicated lane for electric trucks has now been commissioned, the fast-charging company’s first in the Netherlands. According to Fastned, this makes it safe and easy for trucks of any length to recharge.
New step
By helping trucks refuel during long-distance trips, the upgrade marks another step towards emission-free road transport, the fast-charging company said. The truck lane has its own ultra-fast charger, although truck drivers can also use the station-side chargers if their charging port is on the right side.
