Tango expands number of stations with Bakker Bart: ‘Important step towards future’
Q8 is realising several Tango refuelling and charging stations in the Netherlands accompanied by a branch of bread formula Bakker Bart. The first location jointly developed by Q8 and Bakker Bart officially opened its doors at Siemelinkseweg in Deventer on Thursday.
The station on the southern edge of Deventer has been in operation since July and is the first in the Netherlands to combine Tango fast charging and refuelling facilities with a Bakker Bart sandwich shop. Both companies say this marks a new step in the course set: the transformation of the classic filling station into a modern meeting place where charging, refuelling and food service come together so that “the stop becomes a pleasant break “, says Michael Romijn, shop performance manager at Tango.
According to recent research by research firm Ivox commissioned by Q8, 62% of Dutch people expect petrol and charging stations to increasingly turn into retail and meeting locations over the next 10 years.
More to follow
With the concept, Tango and Bakker Bart expect to capitalise on the development of petrol and quick-charge stations, where the traditional shop is giving way to high-quality catering. According to the initiators, several locations are currently being prepared. These will focus on stations within built-up areas, close to daily traffic and amenities.
Tango is part of energy company Q8 and has a network of 200 filling stations in the Netherlands. Sara Pillen, Shop & Dealer performance manager at Q8, shares their vision on the future of the petrol station at the Mobility Energy Expo.
