Newest Fastned fast-charging station in Belgian Deerlijk gets unmanned kiosk
Dutch fast-charging company Fastned has opened a new charging station in the Belgian town of Deerlijk. The fast-charging station at exit 4 of the E17 motorway between Ghent and Kortrijk will have an unmanned kiosk with food and drink and toilets, the second in Belgium.
Fastned’s two fast-charging stations on the E17 near Gentbrugge have only just opened, or the Dutch fast-charging company is expanding again in Belgium. Now a charging location has opened on the Vichtesteenweg in Deerlijk, the fourteenth Fastned in the West Flanders region. The charging station at exit 4 of the highway between Ghent and Kortrijk has eight charging points with a capacity of 400 kW and two with a capacity of up to 50 kW. The power for the chargers is ‘green’ and comes from solar and wind energy.
Kiosk
In 2026, Fasted Deerlijk will also have an unmanned kiosk with food and drink and toilets (pictured). Consumers charging at the location will then be able to go there 24/7 for coffee, soft drinks and snacks from vending machines and toilet visits. It will be Fastned’s second fast-charging location in Belgium with an unmanned kiosk. The first has been at the formula charging location in Knokke-Heist since October 2024. Fastned says it wants to make charging ‘a pleasant experience’. This explicitly includes not only charging the car, but also gaining new energy for the visitors themselves. According to the company, this can be done with high-quality food and drink and a pleasant toilet experience.
Restaurants too
Besides unmanned kiosks, Fastned is also building restaurants at charging locations. In April 2024, the company opened the first shop with restaurant in Brecht, on the E19 between Antwerp and Breda. In mid-September, the double fast-charging location on the E17 in Gentbrugge opened with two restaurants with toilet facilities from One Hundred Restrooms.
The opening in Deerlijk brings Fastned’s number of fast-charging stations in Belgium to 48. This makes the fast-charging company the market leader in the country. The company expects to have around 50 stations operational in the country by the end of 2025 and 1,000 in Europe by 2030.
