Stephan Mangnus (Sakko Groep) opens mega fast charging plaza in Roosendaal: ‘A very nice milestone’
Orange Charging, part of the Sakko Group, officially opened the ‘mega charging hub’ realised by the company in Roosendaal. At the opening, managing director Stephan Mangnus called the fast charging plaza, which is the largest of its kind in the southern Netherlands, “a very nice milestone.
The mega fast-charging plaza has been realised on the Hof Kabelfabriek site on the Ziel in Roosendaal, a stone’s throw from the A17 motorway. The charging hub offers ten sidings for buses and trucks, plus 16 regular charging points where electric passenger cars can charge. This makes it one of the largest fast charging locations for trucks in the southern Netherlands, according to the initiators. The charging plaza also offers an Autel MCS charger, the first in the Benelux, which can deliver a maximum charging capacity of up to 1.2 MW. The charging site uses 1,800 solar panels and 2,150 kW of battery capacity. This enables Orange Charging to still offer high power outputs in a grid-congested area.
Widen
‘Mega Charging Hub Roosendaal’, as the initiators call the project, has been realised on the premises of Hof Kabelfabriek. This company was acquired on 1 July 2021 by Sakko Holding, which has thus been able to further broaden its own activities, especially in the field of charging stations. Over the past decade, in addition to supplying fuels and lubricants and operating filling stations, Sakko has focused on charging facilities for electric cars. With subsidiaries such as Orange Charging and Orange Ventures, the company focuses on charging stations for electric vehicles and the manufacture and sale of electric scooters.
