TotalEnergies constructs 20 fast charging points at six new locations in Rotterdam
TotalEnergies Charging Solutions is taking a big step towards the realisation of fast charging points in Rotterdam. A total of 20 fast-charging points will be installed at six new locations in the port city. According to the municipality of Rotterdam, the fast chargers are needed to further improve the charging infrastructure in the city.
With the arrival of the zero-emission zone and the increasing number of (business) electric drivers in the city, Rotterdam wants to speed up its expansion. The locations of the fast chargers were determined together with the municipality and users of the fast chargers. The six new locations are RDM Square in Heijplaat, Motorstraat/Strevelsweg in Vreewijk, Haastrechtstraat in IJsselmonde and Hormuzstraat, Sint Jobsweg and Waalhaven Zuidzijde in the port area. “The demand for fast charging is increasing,” says project manager charging infrastructure Quirijn Oudshoorn of the Municipality of Rotterdam. “We are proud of the cooperation with TotalEnergies. In a short time, we manage to realise six new fast-charging locations together.”
Emission-free
The fast chargers being realised in the port area have a capacity of 300 kW. The installation contributes to the municipal ambition to make all forms of mobility in Rotterdam emission-free by 2040. According to the initiators, the locations in the port area have been carefully chosen in consultation with the chain partners. This took into account the traffic movements of various target groups, such as transporters, taxis and other drivers.
Besides the six new fast-charging locations, TotalEnergies previously opened charging stations at the Couwenburg and Erasmus MC, bringing the company’s total number of fast-charging stations in Rotterdam to 29.
