Using space smarter: multifunctional solutions offer carwash operators opportunities

Space is scarce in the Netherlands, especially for carwash companies. According to Imbema, the key lies in multifunctional solutions that allow entrepreneurs to make smart use of their premises. By combining different functions, customers can be helped faster and more completely. The result is not only convenience, but also higher customer satisfaction and extra turnover.
In the Netherlands, space is scarce and that also applies to entrepreneurs in the carwash industry. Making optimal use of the available space is therefore essential to offer customers a complete service without making concessions on quality or convenience. Meanwhile, consumers’ wishes are changing, Imbema notes. “Customers today not only want to clean their car from the outside, but also clean the interior and, for example, inflate the tyres. These extra services require time and space, but also offer opportunities for higher customer satisfaction and additional sales.”
Opportunity for entrepreneurs
By offering smart combinations of functions in one place, space can be used more efficiently. This can be done with multifunctional solutions, such as systems combining vacuuming, compressed air cleaning, upholstery maintenance and tyre inflation. Imbema cites German company Ehrle’s MultiTerminal as an example. This terminal combines all these functions in a compact set-up.
The MultiTerminal is 2 metres wide, 1.10 metres deep and 2.40 metres high and comes in four different versions. Each version comes standard with a self-service hoover, a ‘tornado’ nozzle and an air gun. In addition, a tyre pump or tyre polish, or both, can be chosen. The fragrance atomiser is only available on the most comprehensive version.

Smart organisation
According to Imbema, this set-up delivers more efficiency per square metre, reduces site traffic and increases customer satisfaction. “Customers can thoroughly clean their car without having to wait or look for additional facilities. At the same time, investments remain manageable because the different functions share technology, power and infrastructure. Especially in locations where space is limited or expansion is difficult, multifunctional thinking offers a solution. The combination of space gains, higher utilisation rates and extra service ensures sustainable and future-proof operation.”
In the end, Imbema says it’s all about smart organisation. “The car wash of the future does not have to be bigger, but it does have to be better thought through. Those who bring functions together logically and respond to customer behaviour get more out of less space. And that is often pure necessity in the Netherlands.”
