Transport electricity consumption doubles due to advance of electric cars

Met name het elektriciteitsverbruik van het wegverkeer groeide in 2024, dat liet een vervijfvoudiging zien.

Domestic transport electricity consumption rose to 17 petajoules (PJ) in 2024. That is almost twice as much as in 2019. The increase is mainly due to the growing number of electric cars, CBS reported based on preliminary figures.
