‘One-third fewer filling stations in the Netherlands by 2040 if energy transition continues at current pace’

Als het aantal elektrische personenauto’s in Nederland in het huidige tempo blijft groeien en de auto’s op benzine en diesel blijft vervangen, zal dit de komende vijftien jaar leiden tot de sluiting van een derde van het aantal tank- en laadstations in ons land: van 4100 nu naar 2750 tegen 2040.
Na twee decennia van lichte afname van het aantal tankstations in Nederland, kan de energietransitie voor een trendbreuk zorgen met een forse afname tot gevolg.

If the number of electric passenger cars in the Netherlands continues to grow at the current pace and continues to replace petrol and diesel cars, it will lead to the closure of a third of the number of refuelling and charging stations in our country over the next 15 years: from 4,100 today to 2,750 by 2040.
