‘Low water levels are driving up fuel prices in Germany’

Petrol and diesel prices are rising sharply in some parts of Germany due to low water levels. This is mainly because fuel is partly transported within the country via rivers, particularly the Rhine, reports the ANP.

Circle K Netherlands submitted the most bids during the 2026 lease rights auction held last Wednesday by the Central Government Property Agency in The Hague. Of the seven motorway service stations up for auction, the company managed to secure one and retain two. However, Circle K also lost one motorway service station.
