Judge: a mistake when paying for petrol does not affect the obligation to pay

On 1 July 2026, the magistrates’ court ruled that a motorist must pay Soda’s claim in full after failing to pay for a refuelling in 2021. The driver claimed it was a mistake, but the judge ruled that this did not exempt him from his obligation to pay.

Following the recent rebranding of the BP petrol station on Europaweg in the Gelderland town to Avia, the former Esso station on Deventerstraat is now also sporting the red and white colours.
