After diesel, petrol price also breaks record: €2.508 per litre

The Dutch petrol price reached a new record today. UnitedConsumers reports.
The national recommended retail price stands at €2.508 per litre, breaking the previous record from June 2022 ( €2.505 ), according to the consumer portal. Due to the Iran war, prices have been rising for several weeks; last week, diesel prices already reached a record high.
Oil price above $100 a barrel
The price of a barrel of oil has now surpassed $100. In just over two weeks, petrol prices rose by over 22 cents, from €2.286 to €2.508 per litre. The disruption of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s main trade routes for oil, is playing a major role in the price increases. As long as the situation there remains uncertain, the fuel market is expected to remain volatile.

If energy prices remain high for long, the Cabinet is considering taking measures. Industry body Drive earlier called on the government to cut excise duty.
