Low occupancy makes public e-truck charging plazas not yet profitable

The payback period of public charging plazas is a tricky issue due to low occupancy rates, low revenues and insufficient transparency on cost structures. Indeed, the average occupancy rate now hovers between one and six per cent; this needs to rise to 25-30 per cent to be profitable. Subsidies (such as SPRE scheme or SPRILA) are also necessary to make it profitable.
